Bamburi Cement is building two solar photovoltaic power plants, which will provide up to 30 per cent of the cement producer’s total power requirement. Bamburi Cement to open a new shale quarry

Kenya-based Bamburi Cement (part of Holcim )will be opening a new shale quarry in Kwale County to serve a new cement plant. The quarry is expected to supply around 20 per cent of the total resource material for the clinker production process. Kenyan cement consumption grew 18 per cent in the half year ended June, driven by increased construction activities in the private sector that defied a surge in cement prices, according to Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).
